Community Life

Volunteers in Uchuculin are invited to join in our work, family life, and celebrations. Join the children for a swim and splash around in the local river, help to prepare “chicha,” a fermented drink which is a staple of the Kichwa diet, or join the whole community in a game of soccer in the community field before the sun sets. You might join some community members as they head to Tena, the nearest large town with all the necessary amenities to shop or enjoy fun recreational activities. Or you might travel to nearby communities for a visit. In addition, any activity that volunteers want to do in their free time can be arranged with the help of the Napo Runa Volunteer coordinators.

The senior volunteer who has spent the most time in the community will be the person that co-coordinates with the community volunteer coordinator. They will help take responsibility for dealing with particular issues, concerns, and questions that new volunteers might have.
