Community-based Eco-Tourism in the Amazon

Napo Runa Volunteer is an independent volunteer and eco-tourism project of the Kichwa community of Uchuculin located in the Ecuadorian Amazon. We invite you to support our efforts to rescue our rainforest home and cultural values by volunteering or visiting directly in our community. We offer you a unique experience combining participation in the family life of our Kichwa community, and to help design and participate in volunteer work that can contribute to the survival of our land and culture.

This idea is born from a young ideology administrated by young kichwa people, we cannot be exploited by big business, organizations, foundations, travel agencies who bring their strong capital and come to invest in our land, the only thing that they look for is their common interest and not beneficial profits for the indigenous communities. At times we have sometimes not had that opportunity to continue fighting against this since our community leaders or organizations never gave us the chance to be leaders.

But now we are at the front to demonstrate that we have that capacity to lead and to go ahead our new organiszation. All these deceits made us think that if we can fight to the end although we do not have sufficient income but we can sacrifice to take our organization further. All this arises from an organized young society with a highly focused vision in guarding our rights and our sovereignty. But never we will let them invade us but we will always be ready to fight. It is for that reason that we welcome all who are interested in our organization, we are available to receive them.
